“Cultivating a New Taste: California’s Avocado Industry Origins in Latin America.”

Event Date

Please join us for our next LAHW with ACLS Emerging Voices Fellow and Postdoctoral Fellow in Latin American History at The Ohio State University, Dr. Viridiana Hernández Fernández. Our workshop will be held next Wednesday, November 3rd @ 11:00 AM PDT via Zoom. She will be sharing her draft article titled “Cultivating a New Taste: California’s Avocado Industry Origins in Latin America.” This draft article asks us to reconsider how we understand the might and popularity of the avocado through the historical relations between Mexican and U.S. avocado-chains of production and consumption during the twentieth century.

Attached to this email you will find the draft Viridiana has shared with us as well as the flyer. The Zoom link for our workshop with Viridiana is listed below.
