From Indigenous Literatures to Indigenous Theorists: The Rise of Grassroots Decolonial Theorists
In this talk, Arturo Arias (UC Merced) will demonstrate how a diversity of Indigenous paradigms and methods are appearing in the Americas. Literary texts appeared first. Now we are beginning to witness a surge of critical works. Indigenous theorists are often political actors, working within their respective grassroots movements, or writing to help either grassroots organizations or their own communities to advance specific goals. This talk will emphasize the production of critical works by Native American and Indigenous critics.
